“And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God,”
Titus 2:12 NLT
As children of God created in His Image and according to His likeness we are instructed to TURN away from godless living. This refers to any lifestyle that breaks any of God’s commandments. Do you remember the saying “What Would Jesus Say or Do(WWJD)?” that is used to remind us what we should also say and do? Do you remember Joseph in the Old Testament and how he refused to live a godless life even when enslaved in a foreign land? Do you remember Daniel and the three young men who insisted not to defile themselves with the lifestyle of worldly people around them?
Let us examine our WAY of living and turn away from any godless living and sinful pleasures. In our life on earth, there are good pleasures given to us by God to enjoy and they do benefit us. However, there are sinful pleasures that destroy our lives here on earth and in the eternal life. Let us not run after every pleasure living a hedonistic life. Rather, we are instructed by the Word of God to live in this evil world with:
1. Wisdom
2. Righteousness
3. Devotion to God
“Wisdom” to discern good from evil. “Righteousness” to choose the good and repel away every evil. “Devotion to God” that sets clear our vision and mission in life and keeps us away from any distractions that lure us away from the path of God!
