“God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, who is worthy of eternal praise, knows I am not lying.”
2 Corinthians 11:31 NLT ARE YOU LYING?
As simple as the sin of lying might seem to some, it is a grave and serious sin, one that is used to refer to the Devil himself whom Jesus described as “a liar and a father of lies.” (John 8:44) St. Paul in 2 Corinthians 11:31 is appealing to the Corinthians proving his apostleship and telling them “God [...] knows I am not lying.” It is TO God that we answer! It is BEFORE our Lord that we stand all the time and He KNOWS the TRUTH!
Lying may come in different forms such as telling half the truth, hiding something that I am not supposed to hide, doing things behind someone and breaking the trust, exaggerating a story...etc. But GOD SEES ALL THINGS! And it is GOD that matters NOT people! God is calling you to repent from this sin if it is in your life! Do not give any excuse to it! Do not justify it by saying, “I had to lie in order to prevent a bigger problem...I had to because the people around me are difficult...I had to otherwise life will not go on...”
Father God! The Father of our Lord Jesus, who is worthy of eternal praise, You who knows my heart, purify me from all lies...Forgive me...Let me always speak the truth for I am your child born of You and You ARE the TRUTH! Amen!
