“That is why, when I could bear it no longer, I sent Timothy to find out whether your faith was still strong. I was afraid that the tempter had gotten the best of you and that our work had been useless.”
1 Thessalonians 3:5 NLT
Another word for “faith” is “trust”. Trust is the heart and core of any RELATIONSHIP. If “trust” is strong between two people, then their relationship is good, HEALTHY and growing. Beware of what BREAKS “trust”. Lying, hiding and SECRECY break trust.
St. Paul was worried about how faithful and trustworthy his children in Thessaloniki were, so when he could bear it no longer, he sent Timothy to them to check on their “faith” to ensure it is still firm and strong! In times of STREAS and OPPOSITION, the tempter fights us to make us unstable with God and with the people who love us. He makes us doubt the meaning of our relationship with God. The tempter targets our “trust” relationship specifically as it is the foundation of our unity with God and fellowship with His people (The Church). He makes us doubt the church and its leadership under the title of “reformation” and “revival”. Remember what the Devil did with Eve? Recall how Adam and Eve when they did not trust God, they also lost trust in each other and became very UNSAFE.
The Bible reminds us that “without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). So dear brothers and sisters, how is the level of TRUST in your relationship with God? Are you hiding your sins from Him? Are you lying to Him and keeping a secret part of your life away from Him? Beware of “breaking trust”! Beware of the Tempter’s schemes! Grow in your trust, in your faith, and ask God to protect it and make it FLOURISH!
