Eyes Open BUT he was Blind!

“Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus.”

‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭9:8‬ ‭NLT

When Saul met Christ on his way to Damascus and his life was changed 180 degree forever, it was said that his eyes were open but he was blind. Spiritually this points to how when each one of us meets Christ, our life begins to change. Although we are still in this world, but we no longer see the glories of this world, our eyes are said to be open but we are not seeing this world any longer. Our eyes are fixed on Christ and on Heaven! There is a true conversion of our heart for “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also!” Christ and His presence become our treasure and so we become truly blind to any and all other faux-treasures and fake and non-lasting earthly glories. We begin to desire God first of all and above all! We no longer seek to satisfy ourselves with pigs food like the Prodigal son, for we are overwhelmed with our Heavenly Father’s goods!

My friend, seek a daily encounter with Christ in meditation and prayer! Seek to meet Him in the Sacramental life of the Church, as in the Eucharist and Repentance & Confession, and let His light overpower all other temporary glories so your life can be fully devoted to Him, just like Saul’s life turned out to be!
