“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT
Often you may experience the world around you as intimidating, negative and cruel! You may feel alone and that no one really cares about you or knows what you are going through, so you feel very lonely, discouraged and down. Until someone, out of the blue, gives you a WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT, a tap on your shoulder, a compliment, a word of appreciation, a “thank you”!!
Encouraging someone is a powerful thing that brightens that person’s day and lifts up their spirit. Encouraging one another is a beautiful virtue that Christians ought to possess.
Believers in Christ ought to be ones who lift people up not put them down. The Christian family at home and Church ought to remain positive not negative, trusting not cynical, warm not aloof nor cold! Instead of saying a word of criticism to someone, say a word of encouragement!
Instead of judging someone, cheer them on for the good they do. Instead of pointing at what they lack or what they may have missed, thank them for what they did or said that was helpful! If you are a parent, encourage your children in what they do! If you are a spouse tell your partner how much you appreciate them! If you are a servant, reach out to your spiritual children and tell them they matter and that you miss them! If you are a brother or sister, act with kindness towards your siblings in a way you know will lift them up! If you serve together, appreciate one another and pray for each other!
Let us be a community of encouragers and never a judging, selfish, pharisaic, unsafe den of thieves!
